Dr. Yvette E. Pearson is recognized globally for 25 years of contributions to engineering education. A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Dr. Pearson has been an invited speaker at events hosted by the National Academy of Engineering, ABET, American Society for Engineering Education, ASCE, Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, and other engineering societies as well as several universities, corporations, and governmental agencies.

ASCE News acknowledged Dr. Pearson among “the most renowned engineers in the world.” ILSI Engineering recognized her as one of “10 women trailblazers of civil and structural engineering.” She has been quoted and featured in the Houston Chronicle, ASCE News, and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education; she is an Education contributor for PE Magazine; and she has been featured in Medium, Civil Engineering Magazine and Voyage Houston Magazine.

Dr. Pearson has led teams to acquire and administer ~$6.4M in funding to support projects designed to ensure full participation of persons from traditionally marginalized groups in engineering education. Through workshops and personal consulting, Dr. Pearson’s clients and workshop attendees have secured over $10M in funding since 2017 to support their initiatives. Founder and Lead Consultant of The PEER Group and an Associate Dean in the Brown School of Engineering at Rice University, she serves on advisory boards for projects led by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Virginia Tech University, Prairie View A&M University, University of Texas, and Florida International University.

Dr. Pearson is a devoted mother and daughter who in her free time enjoys singing, songwriting, and performing.
